The Society for Distributing Hebrew Scriptures - California

Even in the beginning of their courtship, George and Goldie knew that they were sovereignly put together to serve the Jewish people. George grew up in a Jewish neighborhood in Philadelphia, and all along his path from there, God would place the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Goldie grew up in a rural setting in the Midwest, but she was drawn to the Jewish people she had never met.

God prepared this couple on two college campuses where, for five years, they gave out Bibles and Christian literature to students who stopped at the table. Then, in 1993, the Shaws gave a year of their lives as volunteers with Christian Friends of Israel helping Russian and Ethiopian immigrants in Jerusalem, Israel.

Since November of 1996, George and Goldie have made a long-term commitment to the ministry that God has given them to distribute bilingual Bibles to the Jews. They are the California representatives of the Society for Distributing Hebrew Scriptures, based in London, England.

Specific Future Goals for Distribution in Southern California:

• Train several couples to help us.
• Reach 50,000 Israeli Jewish people in the Los Angeles area.
• Distribute Bibles to tens of thousands of Russian Jewish people.
• Visit more churches for help in distribution.
• Impact many more colleges with the Word.
• Furnish libraries of California with Hebrew Scriptures.
• Work with chaplains of hospitals and prisons to distribute Scriptures.
• Offering Jewish students and Rabbi's the New Testament via the internet.
• Visit Jewish businesses with Hebrew Scriptures.
