This class focuses on Hebrew fundamentals, learning the aleph-bet (the Hebrew Alphabet), learning basic vocabulary, grammar and sentence structure. You will learn to read short paragraphs geared toward your level of skill and passages from the bible in Hebrew. Since Modern Hebrew is printed without vowels, the you will be quickly acclimated to printed Hebrew without vowels so that you will be able to be proficient. The students also present dialogues on a regular basis to encourage development of their verbal skills.
In addition, you will watch films about Israel, and Israeli culture. Holidays are incorporated into the lectures, including discussions about the history of the holidays, songs sung during the holidays and foods eaten during the holidays.
Your understanding of the Bible will deepen as you read and understand the original language God used to bring His revelation to man. Your appreciation for and comprehension of the Jewish people and the modern State of Israel will expand and be illuminated as you study this miraculously preserved language.
