New Testament Overview - Summer 2011

In our New Testament Overview class we will get the “big picture” of each book of the New Testament. Every believer should know what is in all of the New Testament books. This class will go a long way in equipping believers to know and understand what God has revealed through this portion of His Word.

The Old Testament has prepared us for the New Testament. All the ceremonies of the law and the unfulfilled prophecies of the prophets are explained in the New Testament. As J. Sidlow Baxter has written:

Yes, the Jesus of the New Testament is the fulfillment of the Old Testament ceremony, history, philosophy, prophecy. In the Old Testament He is coming. In the Gospels He has come in visible humanity. In the Epistles He has come in by the invisible Holy Spirit. In the Apocalypse He comes back in the glory of world empire. The fulfillments at His first coming prove Old Testament prophecy to be Divine; and they equally guarantee that the still unfulfilled remainder, in both Old and New Testaments, will just as certainly burst into occurrence when the predestined hour strikes.

We will begin the course with a look at what happened in the four hundred “silent years” between the Old and New Testaments. We will see how the four gospels show the life of Jesus. We will learn the great story of God beginning to build His church in the book of Acts. We will soar with Paul to the heights of the glory of God in his epistles. We share in Peter and John’s presentation of the truths of the Christian life in their letters. We will take heed to the warnings in Jude’s letter. We will conclude with the triumphant vision of God’s sovereignty as it is unfolded in prophecy of the end of God’s program for this earth as written in the Book of Revelation.

Join us on this tour of the New Testament.

During his college years, God provided him with various leadership opportunities at Camp Wynola, Carson Bible Church, and Imperial Community Church. Dennis began his ministry at ICC on September 1, 1968 and it expanded to a permanent full time ministry when he graduated from Biola in 1969. He has served the Lord continually at ICC until the present. Dennis and his wife Terry have two sons, Steve and Mark.
