Raptured!
This month I would like to share a few comments about an important prophetic event: the Rapture of the Church. Before I go any further, let me share some background material. The events of the Rapture of the Church are described in three sections of Scripture. The Promise of the Rapture is revealed in John 14:1-3. The Process of the Rapture is described in 1 Thess. 4:1318. Finally, the Physical Change associated with the Rapture is described in 1 Cor. 15:50-58. There are those in the Church who deny that a literal rapture of the saints will occur. At HaDavar we are oriented to the “plain sense” of Scripture and accept a literal rapture as the teaching of the Word of God.

Such a day!
HaDavar has been spearheading an evangelistic, Bible book table at the University of California Irvine for the last three years. UCI is a very diverse and secular campus. Because of the aggressive and extreme activities of the Muslim Student Association, it was once considered to be one of the most antiSemitic, anti-Israeli schools in the country. That notoriety came to an end when the Muslim Student Association conspired to violate the free speech rights of the students by disrupting a speech by the Israeli Ambassador. They were arrested, tried, convicted and punished. The campus has been noticeably calmer ever since.

With that short introduction to the environment, I feel constrained to share with you what the LORD did during the first Friday in February, 2012. Please indulge me and let me “boast in the LORD” (Psalm 34:2 My soul will make its boast in the Lord; The humble will hear it and rejoice.)

"Comfort" Now Available
comfortbook
NO, we have not replaced the Holy Spirit’s ministry of comfort around here (John 14:26 KJV). Our title simply states the fact that HaDavar’s latest book, Comfort During Difficult Times, mentioned in our November Newsletter, is now available. “Comfort” consists of six psalms written by King David when he went through difficult times. We are going through difficult times these days, just like David did. We need to be a people “after God’s own heart,” like David was. An understanding of these psalms contributes to that end. David was a man just like you and me. If he can be a man after God’s own heart, then we can too. You can order this book from HaDavar for a suggested donation of $10.00.

A Look Back at 2011

Amazing, 2011 has come and gone. With that in mind we thought it would be a good time to review a few aspects of 2011 as we forge ahead into 2012.

UCI Book Table 2011

Statistics can be pretty boring and unimaginative, but they can bring clarity to all your efforts. With that in mind let’s look back at our UCI Bible Book Table statistics for 2011.

  • 504 Bibles or New Testaments distributed.
  • 1,737 pieces of Gospel literature distributed.
  • 17 students placed their faith in Jesus at the table.

Each Bible or tract is a precious seed planted in the soil of students hearts (Mark 4:14). Please pray that God will cause His Word to grow in good soil (Mark 4:15-20). So many of the UCI students are biblically ignorant. We are grateful for the opportunity we have to reach out to these precious young people with the Good News of Eternal Life through faith in Jesus. Please pray especially for the 17 students who prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior! Thank you for being part of our team each quarter.

NEW BOOKS IN PRODUCTION

Two of our core values at HaDavar are to produce conservative, consistent, biblical, discipleship material from a Jewish perspective; and to distribute that material as far and wide as possible.

With those values in mind we are grateful to report that we have two more books in production and nearing completion: Biblical Perspectives on the Middle East and Comfort During Difficult Times.

A RECORD!

We are thrilled to report that our new classes have been well received. Bob’s class “The Jewish Life of the Messiah” has received the most enthusiastic response that any class has ever received during the 10 years that the School of Biblical and Jewish Studies has been operating. Please pray that the class will continue to grow and that the students will have their lives changed by the Word of God.

Mark Ellick’s class “The Exodus from Egypt” has likewise gotten off to a very good start.

As we move past our summer break and into September, we thought it was time we brought you up to date regarding the first half of 2011.

WHAT ARE THOSE FUNNY LITTLE SQUARES DOING ON EVERYTHING?

ISRAEL TOUR 2011 - CANCELLED

When our deadline of July 1, 2011 arrived we were still six students short of the minimum number needed, so we had to cancel the study tour. We are trusting that the Lord knows best.
